Hopkinsville Police arrested 31-year-old Jayontez Poindexter of Hopkinsville after he reportedly assaulted a female victim and pointed a gun at her on Wednesday.
Officers responded to Blue Creek Medical Center for reports of an assault. At the medical center, officers made contact with the victim who told them that her and Poindexter had gotten into an argument that turned into a physical altercation which led to her suffering visible injuries such as a broken tooth.
During the altercation, Poindexter reportedly pulled the victim’s hair, grabbed her neck and attempted to assault the her with a handgun and ended up pointing it at her temple. While the victim was at the medical center, she was reportedly receiving messages from Poindexter saying he was going to find her and that she was going to die.
Officers later located Poindexter on Bryan Street. He was detained and reportedly told officers there was no physical altercation between him and the victim.
Poindexter was charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, second-degree terroristic threatening, fourth-degree assault, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and possession of marijuana.
