Police arrest Hopkinsville man for fleeing, wanton endangerment

Hopkinsville Police arrested 53-year-old Henry Burton of Hopkinsville following a pursuit on Thursday.

According to a report, officers were dispatched to Tropicana Court for calls regarding a reckless driver. On their way to the location, officers came across the reported car and conducted a traffic stop in the area of West 7th Street and South Main Street.

Officers made contact with Burton and found that he was reportedly under the influence of alcohol as he was slurry his speech and his eyes were glossy. During the stop, Burton reportedly fled from officers almost colliding with another car and disregarding multiple stop signs.

The pursuit concluded on East 3rd Street, and Burton was taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center where he allegedly threatened to harm officers if they touched him again.

Burton was charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police, first-degree wanton endangerment, driving on a DUI suspended license, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, second-degree disorderly conduct, operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, third-degree terroristic threatening, failure to maintain insurance and speeding.
