Police arrest Pembroke man for fleeing, removing ankle monitor

Hopkinsville Police arrested 34-year-old William Webster of Pembroke on Monday after he reportedly led law enforcement on a pursuit while having an active arrest warrant.

Officers were searching for Webster after he reportedly cut his ankle monitor off and made threats to harm officers. An officer saw Webster’s vehicle traveling north on North Drive and attempted to perform a traffic stop, but Webster reportedly fled.

During the pursuit, Webster turned onto West 7th Street and was reportedly seen nearly colliding with other drivers. The pursuit continued onto South Fowler Street, then Webster turned onto West 2nd Street and made his way back to North Drive.

Webster reportedly tried turning into the McDonald’s parking lot where multiple people were walking, but a police cruiser struck the side of his car preventing him from entering. However, Webster attempted to keep driving and jumped over a curb damaging two cars.

Once Webster’s vehicle was stopped, he was reportedly attempting to reach something in the backseat and was not following commands. Officers reportedly pulled Webster out of the car and placed him on the ground before taking him into custody.

Webster was charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police, first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree criminal mischief, resisting arrest, second-degree disorderly conduct, contempt of court and third-degree assault of a police officer.
