Officers from the Hopkinsville Police Department responded to reports of a burglary in progress at a residence on Canton Street that ended with three men being taken into custody.
On Sunday, police received the report from a third party as the homeowner was in jail. As they responded to the property, officers reportedly saw three men exit the home who were later identified as 62-year-old Joseph Chestnut, 37-year-old Bishop Howard and 40-year-old Paul Thurston.
After making contact with the three men, officers performed a protective swipe of the home and found suspected methamphetamine in plain view along with used smoking glass pipes.
Chestnut, Howard and Thurston were charged with second-degree burglary, possession of drug paraphernalia and first-degree possession of a controlled substance.
