Octavian Tyler, age 24 of Hopkinsville, and Detraveon Chamberlain, age 23 of Hopkinsville, were arrested after they led law enforcement on a pursuit that crossed into Tennessee and ended in Clarksville on Friday, October 18.
According to a report from the Hopkinsville Police Department, officers initiated a traffic stop on a car traveling on East 13th Street that did not have its rear license plate illuminated. The driver then allegedly placed the car in reverse and collided with the front bumper of the police patrol car before fleeing.
A pursuit began and officers reportedly chased the car through multiple neighborhoods and into Clarksville where Tyler and Chamberlain abandoned the car, while it was still moving, and fled on foot. The car then collided with a residence on Pembroke Place.
After the two men attempted to flee on foot they were detained by law enforcement. One of the men reportedly had a backpack that contained firearms and narcotics. The car was also reportedly stolen out of Nashville.
Tyler was charged with second-degree wanton endangerment of an officer, three counts of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first-and-second-degree fleeing or evading police, receiving stolen property, leaving the scene of an accident, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of drug paraphernalia, first-degree criminal mischief and other lesser charges.
Chamberlain was charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police, possession of drug paraphernalia, three counts of a first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possessing restricted ammunition during a felony.
Both men were transported to the Montgomery County Jail and were later extradited to the Christian Council Jail.
Hopkinsville Police were assisted by the Christian County Sheriff Department, Oak Grove Police Department, Montgomery County Sheriff Department, Clarksville Police Department and Tennessee Highway patrol.
