Princeton man killed in Hopkins County crash

A Princeton man was killed in a crash in Hopkins County Sunday morning.

According to the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to reports of a wrecked vehicle located in a ditch on Highway 814 near the intersection of Rabbit Ridge Road just after 8:30 a.m. It is unknown how long the vehicle had been there and upon arrival, it was determined that sole occupant of the vehicle, identified as 26-year-old Jacob Cummings of Princeton, was deceased.

Investigation determined that Cummings had driving the vehicle south on Highway 814 when his vehicle went off the roadway for an unknown reason. It traveled back into the road, and then went off the other side, where it overturned into the ditch before coming to a stop.

The Hopkins County Coroner’s Office declared Cummings deceased at the scene.

The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Hopkins County Coroner’s Office, Webster County Sheriff’s Office, the Providence Police Department, the Providence Fire Department, Providence Ambulance Services, the Nebo Volunteer Fire Department, and Med Center Ambulance Services.
