Proceedings were continued in Christian Circuit Court Monday morning in the shooting case against Marshawn Taylor as attorneys continue to review evidence.
Public defender Eric Bearden represents Taylor and informed the court that while his client is serving time on a separate sentence at a state correctional facility, he’s had some trouble getting things to him—but that should be corrected now. He says he also needs to make doubly sure that he has all of the evidence in the case.
Judge Andrew Self set a pretrial hearing for March 18.
Taylor allegedly shot 27-year-old Marka Smith of Owensboro in the wrist and hip while she was sitting in a vehicle in the 100 block of North Elm in May of 2021. He’s charged with assault in the first-degree, first-degree wanton endangerment and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
