Even though it is presently frigid outside with snow on the ground, the Christian County Public School System is gearing up for spring—and that includes starting preparations for Project Graduation.
Superintendent Chris Bentzel appeared on WHOP Tuesday morning and says they’re excited to bring back Project Graduation in a big way this year. Calling it a return to old traditions, Bentzel says students can expect a night full of fun, prizes, activities and good memories at the Hopkinsville Planters Bank-Jennie Stuart Sportsplex.
Graduates from all four local high schools are invited to attend, and Bentzel says it’s a big night for all them, so they want to make sure those graduates are safe and happy as they begin the rest of their lives.
They’ll be looking for parent volunteers and a project coordinator, along with looking for sponsors and donations for the cause.
Before we turn our thoughts to warmer months however, heavy rain, snow and freezing temperatures is causing a slow down on construction at the consolidated Christian County High School, though Bentzel says work continues inside the structure.
Bentzel says no one expects to have perfect weather all the time, so they factored in possible slowdowns, and they remain on track to have the building completed by the spring of 2026.
