The Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library will be transformed into a scene stripped from the history books for their inaugural Scribe and Scout Renaissance Faire on Saturday.
Mari-Alice Jasper from the library says the faire was a passion project she and fellow staff members brought to their director who green-lighted it.
Due to projected inclement weather, the faire has been moved inside the library.
The faire will include activities for attendees of all ages such as crafts and games. Jasper says goers can make flower crowns, mix potions and get their faces painted. They can also compete in a foam axe throwing competition, inflatable suit foot races and other yard games.
That’s only a little bit of what the faire has to offer. Jasper says the library will be hosting a marketplace that will feature vendors selling handcrafted products such as crochet crafts, paintings, jewelry, renaissance costumes, and much more.
Leading up to the faire, the library has spotlighted some of the vendors coming which includes, Argent Engraving, Florrie’s Magical Misfits, The Book and Bottle Shop, Panda’s Crochet Creations, Maximum Artistry and Riley Art Studios.
Along with the merchandise vendors, Jasper says they have plenty of food vendors coming to the faire. Jasper says they have G’s BBQ which will be serving up smoked turkey legs and Corner Coffeehouse will be making Renaissance period baked goods.
For entertainment, Jasper says the faire will have a community drum circle, fencing demonstrations, a history lesson about medieval weapons and armor, a performance from the Secret Commonwealth Band and a best-dressed competition.
Jasper says it’s a privilege to bring the faire to the community and looks forward to seeing folks on Saturday in their renaissance regalia.
Saturday’s Scribe and Scout Renaissance Faire kicks off at the library at noon and concludes at 7 p.m.
