Senator Rand Paul is eager to see what the future holds with the new administration moving in next month to the White House, and he’s already got plans in the works for 2025.
The senator from Kentucky’s main goal is to reign in what he calls government over-spending—something he has championed for a long time, saying it’s been an uphill battle all the way. He says even if immediate cuts to spending happened at once, it will still take several years for the debt to be even moderately impacted—so best to start now.
President-Elect Donald Trump has indicated he intends to focus on spending and government efficiency, and Paul says he’s been speaking often with those who will lead that endeavor.
He’s hopeful that more progress will happen in Washington D.C. as Republicans will control the House, the Senate and the Oval Office. He says he intends to work on making it so Kentuckian’s paycheck go farther.
One measure he hopes to see come up for a vote is making tips tax exempt—which he says would really go a long way to helping out wait staff at restaurants.
Senator Paul says he also hopes that spending United States dollars in foreign aid—such as to the Ukraine in their fight against Russia—starts to come to a stop, as he feels that money would be better spent here at home.
