The Western Kentucky State Fair opens its gates on Friday, but before all the fun kicks off, the application deadline for the pageants is approaching and organizer Lauren Chester appeared on WHOP to share what the contestants can expect.
The fair is hosting a wide variety of pageants inviting contestants of all ages to compete, including newborns. Chester is the director of the Miss WKSF Pageant, which is for female contestants who are between the ages of 16 to 21 and have never been married. Contestants in all pageants must be Kentucky residents.
The pageants start Saturday morning with The Infant, Baby and Tiny Tot Pageants and continues with The Ms./Mrs. WKSF Pageant at 5:30 p.m. and The Miss WKSF Pageant at 7 p.m. New this year, Chester says the pageant contestants will be interviewed by the judging panel.
The pageants continue Sunday afternoon with The Youth Pageants and concludes on Monday, June 29 with the Ms. Plus WKSF Pageant at 7 p.m. The registration costs around $50 for each pageant, but Chester says they can get business sponsors to help pay that expense.
The registration deadline for the Youth Pageants and The Ms. Plus Pageant is Wednesday. Then, the registration deadline for the Ms./Mrs. Pageants, The Miss Pageant and the Infant, Baby and Tiny Tots Pageants is Thursday. The applications and guidelines for each pageant are available at westernkentuckystatefair.org/pageants.
The pageants will be hosted in the Convention Center at the fairgrounds and tickets to attend cost $1. Local pageant winners will go on to compete at state pageants.
