Repair project will cause lane restriction on I-24

As the work week gets underway, here’s a reminder that the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will be conducting an interstate repair project that will last until mid-August, if the weather cooperates.

According to a news release, I-24 will be reduced to one lane in each direction near the Oak Grove and Tennessee line near the 88-mile-marker while crews work to replace the road surface with new material.  The project will likely take until mid-August at the earliest.

Due to the lane configuration, the maximum allowable load width will be 14 feet. Over-dimensional vehicles exceeding this width restriction must use an alternate route.

Motorists should expect reduced speeds and possible delays, and are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time and use caution through the work zone.
