There could be a resolution soon reached in the murder case against Brian Kerr, a Tennessee man charged with murder in connection to a fatal shooting in Christian County.
Brian Kerr Jr is charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of 37-year-old Dmytro Sebeniuk of Des Plaines, Illinois, which happened on December 28 of 2024 at the Pilot Travel Center off of Pembroke-Oak Grove Road.
Work has been happening to get this case resolved, and Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Greg Cortese informed the judge Wednesday in Christian Circuit Court that they do expect to have a plea deal in place soon, asking for a short continuance.
Judge John Atkins set the next hearing out for April 29, with the expectation that an offer will be accepted by that time.
Kerr is also charged with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, possession of heroin and possession of marijuana.
Kerr is accused of shooting Sebeniuk before stealing his car and driving it to Humphreys County, Tennessee. Kerr was arrested by Illinois State Police during a pursuit and is also wanted for multiple charges out of Maury and Humphreys Counties.
