Local attorney Craig Richardson has made it official, after he filed his declaration of candidacy Wednesday to seek the State Senate seat currently held by Senator Whitney Westerfield.
Richardson expressed his intent to seek that seat earlier this year after Senator Westerfield announced he would not be running for re-election. Richardson then filed a state of intent to seek that seat, and with the filing of his paperwork on Wednesday, he has made it official that he will be on the ballot for the May 2024 Primary Election.
The position represents Christian, Caldwell and Muhlenberg counties.
Richardson says, “Over the past seven and a half months I have been campaigning and meeting with the wonderful people of Caldwell, Christian, and Muhlenberg counties. It has been an immense pleasure and I am so grateful for all the support so many have given. I have been working hard to show up, be present, listen, and know the issues that matter most to western Kentucky. Our Commonwealth is capable of amazing things because we have amazing people. We are just getting started and look forward to getting out every day to hear from every one we can and get to work for them.”
