The Salvation Army of Hopkinsville has announced who the winner was of the head-to-head fundraising competition between two Hopkinsville clubs, as they look for a final push in the red kettle campaign heading towards Christmas.
The head-to-head matchup between the Hopkinsville Rotary Club and the Kiwanis Club of Hopkinsville is a friendly competition to see which club can raise the most money during the red kettle bell-ringing campaign to benefit the Salvation Army’s mission. And that competition was a close one this year—Kiwanians raised $9,964, while Rotarians brought in $10,563, a difference of approximately $600.
Lt. David Donnegan celebrated the amounts and the Rotary Club victory, saying all money raised benefits the programs of the Salvation Army, from the soup kitchen to emergency shelters.
Lt. Brittany Donnegan thanked all of those who have donated money to their cause, whether that be change dropped into a bucket or given online, saying it wouldn’t be possible without their generosity.
There’s still time to give—bell ringers will be out at area stores all the way through Christmas Eve. You can also donate online through the Salvation Army website, and the organization is looking to make this a strong fundraising year, to help care of the numerous individuals who call on the Salvation Army for help during the year.
