After being one of 15 domestic violence shelters across the state to be benefited by the fifteenth annual Shop and Share donation drive, Sanctuary, Inc. in the Pennyrile Region received around $3,500 worth of grocery items and monetary donations.
Shop and Share is an annual one-day donation drive hosted by the office of Kentucky’s First Lady, state anti-violence coalition ZeroV and Kroger stores across the state. The drive was hosted on February 15 and invited Kentuckians to shop for what they need, but also donate items to their local domestic violence shelters.
According to a news release from Sanctuary, they had donation stations set up at Kroger stores in Hopkinsville, Madisonville and Powderly. Between the three locations they received 628 food and personal care items.
Sanctuary Director, Heather Lancaster thanked everyone who played a part in the drive no matter how big or small and says this year’s Shop and Share has possibly been their biggest in years.
ZeroV shared that statewide, around $370,000 was raised at this year’s Shop and Share.
