School is nearly back in session, with open house events planned

Another school year is nearly here—in fact students in Todd County go back to school on Wednesday—and school officials are urging families to get those last-minute items checked off the to-do list.

Motorists will need to be on the lookout for the return of school buses, with the first day of school in Todd County set for Wednesday, Trigg County’s first day on August 13 and then August 18 spells the first day of school for students in Christian County.

CCPS Superintendent Chris Bentzel says, as of right now, they’re good to go in the way of transportation, with all routes covered with bus drivers, so he’s hoping for a smooth start to the school year.

He urged those parents who drop off their students at school in the morning, and those who walk to school, to make sure they have their transportation plans ready to go, so no one runs late for class that first day.

For CCPS, Open House events will be held for the elementary schools on August 12 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at each school, then the middle schools and high schools will have their open houses on August 14 from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.

Superintendent Bentzel says those open houses are a great chance to get to know the teachers and staff, finishing up any registration for the student and sign-up for ParentSquare.

Online registration still remains available on the Christian County Public Schools website, so you can get that take care of online and not worry with lines during the open house.

You can also get updates on new school policies and Kentucky laws on the Christian County Public Schools, Trigg County Public Schools and Todd County School District Facebook pages.
