After Andrew Goins was appointed to serve as the interim principal of Hopkinsville Middle School in February, the Christian County Public School System announced on Monday that their Site-Based Decision Making Council has affirmed him as principal.
According to a news release, after discussing Superintendent Chris Bentzel’s decision to hire Goins as principal, the council approved his decision meaning that the “interim” tag will be dropped from Goins’ title.
Before joining the Christian County Public School System in 2013, Goins taught at Heritage Christian Academy and Paducah Tilghman High School. Goins started working at Hopkinsville High School as a history teacher before serving as an assistant principal at Freedom Elementary and then returning to the high school as assistant principal.
Bentzel says Goins worked hard in his interim role to establish a positive culture at the middle school and is confident in his leadership and his potential for success.
Goins says he is committed to putting students first as sixth graders rejoin the middle school and the campus transitions to where Martin Luther King Junior Elementary School was.
