Semi-truck crash sends one to the hospital

A Georgia man was injured in a single-vehicle semi-truck crash on Fort Campbell Boulevard in Hopkinsville early Friday morning.

According to the Hopkinsville Police Department, it happened just before 4 a.m. on U.S. 41A near Barney Drive when a tractor-trailer heading southbound struck something in the roadway, and one of the front tires on the semi popped.

The driver, 35-year-old Jonathan Harvey of Abbeville, Georgia, told officers he was unable to keep control of the semi, and it went off the roadway, striking a culvert, a fence and then a Pennyrile Electric utility pole before coming to a stop.

Harvey was transported to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment of injuries to his upper body and head.
