Sheriff’s Office identifies driver, shares details concerning Crofton wreck

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office shared more details about a wreck on East Princeton Street in Crofton that resulted in injuries Friday evening.

According to a report, the single-vehicle wreck occurred in the 300 block of the street. The driver, David Johnson of Hopkinsville, was reportedly driving west when he went off the roadway and struck a fire hydrant.

Deputies believe Johnson drove into a creek and rolled over multiple times before striking the fire hydrant. While the truck was rolling over, Johnson was reportedly ejected from the truck and landed underneath it.

At the scene, Johnson was walking around. Alcohol is listed as a factor in the collision on the report.

Johnson was transported to Jennie Stuart Medical Center and was later likely transported to a hospital out of state due to the severity of his injuries. No charges have yet been filed.
