A truck traveling on East 9th Street reportedly struck a utility pole on Friday, resulting in minor injuries and the driver’s arrest.
According to Hopkinsville Police, Steven Johnson of Crofton was traveling east on East 9th Street approaching the South Clay Street intersection which his truck struck a light pole on the right side of the road.
The front-seat passenger reportedly suffered minor injuries and was transported to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for minor injuries.
Officers questioned Johnson about the wreck and he reportedly admitted he was under the influence of alcohol. At the scene, officers claimed that Johnson smelled like alcohol, had slurred speech and was stumbling. A search of Johnson and his vehicle reportedly unveiled a bottle of Kentucky Gentleman and E&J Brandy.
Johnson was charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.
