A situation has ended peacefully with charges filed against a person who barricaded himself inside of a residence on Jewel Drive in Clarksville Thursday night.
According to the Clarksville Police Department, officers were called to Jewel Drive around 7:15 p.m. for reports of a domestic incident that could have come about during a mental health crisis. Investigation determined the male individual had sent threatening text messages that suggested there would be a violent confrontation with law enforcement.
A witness on the street reported hiring a gunshot fired from inside the residence.
Officers were able to make contact with the barricaded individual, and efforts began to peacefully de-escalate the situation. At some point during discussions, he told officers he had fired the gun to ensure it was working.
At about 4:30 a.m. officers were able to successfully negotiate his surrender without further incident. He was taken into custody and charged with Aggravated Domestic Assault.
