To combat impaired driving during the holidays, Kentucky State Police have joined a the nationwide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign.
The campaign kicked off on December 10 and continues through January 1, 2026. According to KSP, law enforcement historically sees a sharp rise in impaired driving incidents during the holidays. Data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration also shows that December drunk-driving fatalities have reached their highest levels in nearly 15 years.
KSP Post 11 Commander, Captain Robert Purdy says safety is their top priority, and this season should be spent with family and friends, not marked by possible loss.
KSP asks motorists to ensure they have a sober ride if alcohol is a part of their celebration; use safe transportation such as ride share services, taxis and public transit; report impaired drivers and wear a seat belt.
