The Kentucky Center for Statistics has released the county unemployment data for May 2024.
According to the report, unemployment rates rose in 109 counties between May 2023 and May 2024 and fell in six counties and remained the same in five counties. In the Pennyrile region, Christian County’s jobless rate is at 5.3 percent, up from the 4.9 percent reported in April and five percent reported one year ago.
Todd County is at 4.6 percent, up from 4.5 percent a month ago and up a full percentage point from the rate reported in May of 2023—3.6 percent. Trigg County’s rate increased only slightly to 4.6 percent, up from 4.5 percent reported in April and the same as the rate reported last year.
Caldwell County has the Pennyrile’s lowest unemployment rate at 4.2 percent and Muhlenberg had the highest and seven percent.
