Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Schools has announced that their Middle School program will be suspended starting in August of 2026.
According to a news release from the Diocese of Owensboro, the decision was made following extensive listening sessions, a careful review of enrollment trends and long-term sustainability, along with prayerful consultation and discernment.
Saints Peter and Paul Catholic School has been a pillar in this community for many years, and they remain committed to Catholic education. Officials say this transition will allow for the school to focus its efforts on growing and enhancing its Pre-K through Fifth grade program, hoping to ensure academic excellence and long-term vitality, while keeping a strong Catholic identity.
The parish intends to offer current seventh-grade students the opportunity to complete eighth grade and graduate in 2027, if there is sufficient enrollment to sustain the class. Parents of current seventh graders are invited to an informational meeting on Tuesday, February 10, at 5:30 p.m. to discuss details of what that eighth-grade experience would look like.
Officials say the Middle School has experienced a suspension before and was later restored when possible, so this suspension does not necessarily reflect a permanent closure.
