It’s time again for the Summer Salute Festival, and while the weather might be hot, the music and the fun will be too in downtown Hopkinsville this weekend.
In fact, you might have already seen carnival rides going up in Founders Square, and starting Thursday afternoon, several roads in downtown will be closed to traffic to allow for set up of the event that will take over the area Friday and Saturday. Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation Superintendent Toby Hudson urged people to be alert for road closures, and the days of the event, make sure you take it slow and watch out for folks crossing the road.
The festivities get underway on Friday at 11 a.m. and Hudson says the carnival is back this year, along with a Kids Zone, numerous food and drink vendors and much more.
The live music starts on the main stage at 6 p.m. Friday night with Saved By the Music, followed by Shining Star: “A Tribute to Earth, Wind and Fire”—then Hudson says the Frontmen will take over Saturday at 6 p.m., opening for the headline act of Easton Corbin.
He says the vendor spot sizes have increased, as well as spaces between the vendors, to allow for a comfortable experience for the different vendors and keep folks from feeling cramped.
