Starting Thursday evening, downtown is going to be transformed into a festival and concert venue for Hopkinsville’s eighth annual Summer Salute which kicks off on Friday.
Summer Salute is Hopkinsville’s largest annual festival and Rachel Sanders from Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation appeared on WHOP on Thursday to talk about the weekend festival. On Thursday, Ninth Street from Seventh Street to South Main Street and Bethel Street from Seventh Street to 10th Street will both be closed at 5 p.m.
On Friday at 11 a.m. Summer Salute officially gets underway with food and merchandise vendors lining Ninth Street.
The food vendors include Smoke and Oak BBQ, Jus Burgers, Heather’s Homemade Ice Cream, Anna Marie’s Fajita Shack, Kona Ice and much more. The merchandise vendors include Arte Leather Designs, The Collective 270, She Shed Creations, Chime Craft and much more.
Then at 5 p.m. on Friday people can start grabbing their spot to watch the Jimmy Church Band perform and they will take to the stage at 6 p.m. On Saturday, the band Parmalee will be the headlining act, and they are set to perform after their opener, Tyler Booth at 6 p.m.
Sanders reminded listeners to bring their own chairs and blankets for seating.
This year’s festival will include a kid’s zone which will feature bounce houses, slides and obstacle courses in Founder’s Square.
