The Pennyroyal Center’s Festival of Trees kicked off on Friday at the Bruce Center to celebrate the holidays and raise money for the organization’s programs.
Zoe Edwards from the Pennyroyal Center says this year’s festival includes 38 Christmas trees and over 40 companies and organizations in the community worked to decorate and sponsor them. Edwards says this is the most participation she has seen for the festival since she started working at the Pennyroyal Center.
Edwards says they have a wide array of trees that people could potentially win. Attendees can get raffle tickets for $1 each and put a ticket in the bag sitting in front of the tree they want to take home. The winners will be selected on Saturday at 2:15 p.m.
Then, from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., the winners can come and pick up their trees. Edwards says the funds raised by the festival will go toward Pennyroyal Center programs such as Trace Industries, Genesis East and West, the Trilogy Program and Intensive Services.
The Festival of Trees continues on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
