Todd Co. Schools celebrate improvements, high ratings in state assessment data

The Todd County School District is feeling very happy with what their Kentucky state Assessment data showed, with schools in the blue and others in the green.

As a reminder, the accountability system used to evaluate schools is color-coded with rankings going from red, orange, yellow, green and blue, with red being the worst and blue being the best. Those rankings are determined from six indicators including assessment results in reading and mathematics, results in science, social studies and writing, English learning progress, quality of school climate and safety, postsecondary readiness for high schools and graduation rate. It also comes with an indicator for a factor known as “change”.

With that in mind, Todd County Schools officials were pleased to announce that overall, the elementary schools received a ‘blue’ rating overall, with the high school ranked in the ‘green’ and the middle school in the ‘orange’.  Even though Todd County Middle School was in the ‘orange’, they still showed improvement by increasing its overall score by nearly 10 points.

Todd County Central High School was ‘green’, as was South Todd Elementary School, and North Todd Elementary School achieved the highest rating possible with a ‘blue’ classification.

While there’s still work to be done, especially in the middle school, officials say, “We know our students’ success is a team effort! A huge thank you to our dedicated educators, incredible families, and supportive community partners. Todd County Schools recognizes and appreciates all the individuals and organizations that support our students.”
