In June the Trigg County Board of Education announced that Rex Booth was chosen to serve as the new Superintendent of Trigg County Public Schools and on Tuesday a meet and greet was hosted to give the community a chance to meet their new superintendent.
Booth has worked in the education system for around 15 years and he most recently served as the Principal of Russellville Middle School and High School. Before his three-year tenure in Russellville, Booth served as a principal in the Edmonson County School District and has also been a math teacher and a basketball coach.
Booth started his superintendent duties on July 1 and says right now his priority is meeting with the community and educators to know what their needs are and analyzing how county schools operate to see what works and what may need improvement.
Booth says he decided to take on the superintendent role because he wanted a new challenge. Earlier in his career, Booth worked for Trigg County Public Schools and thought the area could be home for him and his family.
Moving forward, Booth says he is focused on ensuring consistency in their education and maintaining transparency with parents and the community.
Booth says he looks forward to working with the community to steer the school system in a positive direction.
