After serving in his role for six years but with an industry career that spanned over 40-years, Tennessee Valley Authority President and CEO Jeff Lyash has announced his intent to retire.
Lyash has served as the TVA’s CEO since the appointment in 2019, and has lead the TVA through the COVID-19 pandemic and billions of dollars’ worth of energy initiatives, while focusing on building strong partnerships with the region’s 153 local power companies and managing the explosive growth of the region and its subsequent increase in power demand.
A news release from the TVA credits Lyash’s leadership with the TVA maintaining retail rates that are lower than 80 percent of the rest of the nation, while the TVA continues to meet record-breaking demands for electricity.
Lyash says, “For the past six years, it’s been my privilege to serve with an experienced, talented team at TVA. TVA truly is a special place – created more than 90 years ago to improve the quality of life for more than 10 million people across this region. That mission of service continues to be our focus today. The stability and growth of our regional economy and the lives of the people we serve depend on our commitment to delivering affordable, reliable, resilient and sustainable energy.”
Lyash will continue to lead the TVA until the Board of Directors selects a successor, with the hope that’s no later than the end of the fiscal year.
