While western Kentucky is experiencing extreme heat, Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) Spokesperson, Adam May shared tips on how customers can conserve energy.
Over the course of the week temperatures have spiked across the TVA’s service region. May says the TVA has been keeping up with energy demands, but they want to help customers save on energy costs while staying cool.
To save on energy, May says folks can raise their thermostat temperature and for each degree it is raised it can reduce their energy bill by 3%.
If people raise their thermostat temperatures, they can still remain cool by closing curtains on windows that typically receive a lot of sunshine; turning their ceiling fans counter clockwise; cooking meals on an outdoor grill and changing their HVAC filters.
