Two flown to Skyline following Pennyrile Forest State Park Road crash

The Christian County Sheriff’s Department has released information on a single-vehicle crash from Thursday that happened on Pennyrile Forest State Park Road.

According to the report from the Christian County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to the 1.4 mile-marker of Pennyrile Forest State Park Road for reports of a wrecked vehicle off the roadway. Upon arrival, contact was made with the driver, 38-year-old Matthew Pendley of Crofton and a passenger, 26-year-old Katie Outlaw of Dawson Springs.

Both were unsure at what happened before the collision, but Pendley remembered swerving to a void a deer, sending the vehicle off the road. The vehicle struck a tree head-on before coming to a stop.  It’s unclear when exactly the wreck occurred, but it was believed to have happened in the overnight hours. Outlaw told officers she was asleep when the crash happened.

Both were flown to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville for treatment of injuries and possible hypothermia.
