Two people were hurt in a crash on Interstate 24 in Christian County last week, one of them severely.
According to the report from the Christian County Sheriff’s Department, it happened near the 73-mile-marker on Thursday around 3:30 p.m. between a vehicle driven by 75-year-old Gary Belew of Oak Grove and another operated by 41-year-old Edward Layne of Cadiz.
Layne reported that he was traveling in the left-lane when the other vehicle swerved to the right lane suddenly, and he attempted to avoid a collision but was unsuccessful.
Belew was unresponsive at the scene and had to be extricated from the vehicle. He was then flown to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville for treatment.
Layne was taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center by Fort Campbell EMS.
