Two Murray residents have been arrested and charged with murder and first-degree criminal abuse after officers investigated the death of a child Monday afternoon.
According to a news release from the Murray Police Department, officers responded to the Murray-Calloway County Hospital Emergency Department for reports of a 17-month-old female with signs of possible physical abuse who was unresponsive. That child would later be pronounced deceased.
Investigation into the child’s death led to the arrest of 24-year-old Chyanne Niemeyer and 20-year-old Nathaniel Gibson, both of Murray. They are both charged with murder and first-degree criminal abuse against a child under the age of 12.
The investigation is ongoing and no other details were immediately available.
