The Tennessee Highway Patrol is confirming that two Kenwood Middle School students were killed in a crash involving a school bus, a dump truck and a passenger vehicle in Carroll County, Tennessee Friday afternoon.
The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System reports that the bus was transporting Kenwood staff and middle schoolers to Jackson, Tennessee for a a field trip when the collision occurred at around noon. The multi-vehicle crash occurred on Highway 70 in Carroll County between the bus and the Tennessee Department of Transportation dump truck, sending the school bus off of the roadway.
Two students on the bus were killed and several others were injured, with multiple flown to hospitals in Nashville and Memphis.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation, with further information not immediately available.
