Two-vehicle collision in Crofton results in injuries

A two-vehicle collision on South Madisonville Street in Crofton resulted in injuries on Tuesday.

According to a report from the Christian County Sheriff’s Office, Michael Vance of Crofton was driving south on South Madisonville Street and ahead of him Lindsay Hopper of Hopkinsville had turned onto the street and was attempting to then turn left into a Rite Choice Market parking lot.

Hopper reportedly told law enforcement that Vance’s vehicle was a fair distance away when they attempted to turn into the parking lot. Vance was reportedly exceeding the speed limit when he saw Hopper attempting to turn left.

Vance said his vehicle only has front brakes and knew he could not stop in time, so he reportedly accelerated in an attempt to pass Hopper’s vehicle. Vance allegedly struck the front left fender of Hopper’s vehicle.

After the collision, Vance’s vehicle went off the left side of the roadway before crossing back over the road and striking a culvert coming to a stop. Hopper’s vehicle spun sideways, but remained on the road.

Hopper and a passenger in his vehicle were both reportedly transported to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for minor injuries. Vance reportedly refused EMS.
