UHA Volleyball’s Julia Thomas signs with Florida International University

On Friday afternoon, University Heights senior volleyball player Julia Thomas signed her letter of intent to play for Florida International University.

After signing, Julia spoke on how nervous and excited she was during the process.

When asked why she picked FIU, Thomas explained that it was the family-like culture brought her in.

While it’s certain Julia will miss her UHA family and local community, the idea of living in Miami, Florida and experiencing some warmer weather has her very excited.

Another benefit for Julia going to FIU is a that the university is a member of Conference USA. This means fans of Julia will have a chance to travel just about 60 miles at least once a year to see her face off against conference foe Western Kentucky.

In her career at UHA, Julia recorded 1,158 kills, 341 blocks, 118 digs, and 125 aces. Those are numbers that have permanently cemented her in the legacy of UHA volleyball.

On top of her personal stats and achievements, this was a historical season for the team as a whole and Julia is very proud to have ended her and her fellow seniors’ year on such a high note.
