Unemployment rose in 110 counties between June of this year and June of 2024, according to the Kentucky Center for Statistics.
According to a news release, that held true in the Pennyrile Region, with the unemployment rate ticking up to 5.9 percent in Christian County, up from 5.6 percent one year ago and up from the 5.3 percent it was in May. Todd County was up a whole percentage point from one year ago, now at 5 percent and Trigg County was only slightly up from 5.1 percent in June of 2023 to 5.3 percent this year.
Muhlenberg County has the regions highest unemployment rate at 7.5 percent and Caldwell County has the lowest rate at 4.8 percent.
Cumberland County recorded the lowest jobless rate in the Commonwealth at 3.9 percent and Martin County recorded the state’s highest unemployment rate at 10.7 percent.
