Unemployment rates were reported to have risen in all 120 Kentucky counties between September of this year and last year, according to the Kentucky Center for Statistics.
According to a news release, Christian County’s unemployment rose nearly a percentage point—in September of 2023 the rate was 4.8 percent and it was a reported 5.7 percent in September 2024. Todd County’s unemployment rate is 4.5 percent, up from 3.7 percent in comparison a year ago, and Trigg County has an unemployment rate of 5.2 percent, up from 4.3 percent.
Caldwell County has the lowest unemployment rate in the Pennyrile region at 4.6 percent, while Muhlenberg County has the highest rate at seven percent.
In the state, Cumberland County recorded the lowest jobless rate at 3.7 percent, and Magoffin County had the state’s highest rate at 11.5 percent.
Kentucky’s county unemployment rates and employment levels are not seasonally adjusted because of small sample sizes.
