United Southern Bank is putting out a warning for their account holders—scammers are sending fraudulent calls and texts, using spoofed phone numbers.
These ‘spoofed’ numbers appear to belong to the Main Office with United Southern Bank, and then the scammer starts attempting to trick individuals into sharing private or sensitive banking information.
Spoofing is a type of scam or cyberattack that disguises the caller’s identity as a trusted source in order to deceive the target and gain access to sensitive information.
United Southern officials remind customers that they will never call to ask for personal information or any banking information such as PIN numbers or online banking passwords. If you receive a suspicious call, or doubt it for even a moment, hang up the call and call United Southern Bank directly.
