The Hopkinsville Human Rights Commission is preparing for the 50th annual Unity Breakfast in October, but before that, they’re accepting nominations for numerous awards.
Several awards are handed out at the breakfast each year, and Executive Director Rachel Farmer urges people to their website—hoptown.org/hrc—to nominate individuals for the Hal and Bettye Thurmond Award, the Unity Award and more.
This is the 50th anniversary of the Unity Breakfast and Farmer says it brings with it the theme “50 Years of Compassion” and they’ll have a special guest to hand out their most prestigious award and welcome a Hopkinsville native as the keynote speaker.
Tickets are available now but they’re going fast, and the breakfast is set for October 24 at the James E. Bruce Convention Center at 7:30 a.m.
Farmer clarified that the HRC is here to help fight discrimination complaints in numerous areas, but most specifically housing, saying that if you’re having issues to contact the HRC at 270-887-4010.
