A well-known member of the community and longtime driver of events honoring and remembering the armed forces locally has been chosen to serve as the grand marshal of this year’s Hopkinsville Christmas Parade.
John Brame Jr. has been the Commander of the local Veterans of Foreign War Post 1913 for many years and the Chairman of the War Memorial Commission—before that, he served in the U.S. Army from 1969 until 1971, which included a tour in Vietnam.
Officials say his leadership and commitment to peace make him the perfect choice to lead this year’s celebration, along with his dedication to honoring veterans and supporting the Hopkinsville community.
The Hopkinsville Electric System Nighttime Christmas Parade is set for December 14 with theme, “Let There Be Peace”. The parade begins promptly at 5:15 PM, and continues until the final participant has completed the route. Floats, vehicles, bands, golf carts, and more are welcome to enter the parade for an entry fee of $20 and a new toy donation.
Entry forms can be picked up and submitted at the Thomas Street Recreation Center.
