With the passing of the non-partisan filing deadline, we have an idea of what the ballots will look like come the November General Election.
Two seats are up for grabs in Christian County School Board, those being in District 5 and District 3. District 5 is currently held by longtime board member Tom Bell, who had not filed to seek re-election as of the end of the filing deadline Tuesday. Three people are seeking election in that district however, that being Whitney Dulin Holland, Robert Webb and Twan Doan.
Incumbent District 3 school board member Lindsey Clark has filed to seek re-election, and he’ll be facing challenger Yolanda Robinson on the ballot.
With no new filings, Christian County Sheriff Tyler DeArmond is unopposed in the November election. The same holds true for Mike Sandrink for Trigg County Sheriff and Patrick Turner for Todd County Sheriff, both of whom won in the May primary. Amber Ezell will be unopposed on the ballot in the race for Christian County Property Valuation Administrator.
The race for Mayor of Oak Grove is looking crowded, as incumbent Jackie Oliver has filed to seek re-election, and she’ll be facing challengers Janet Edwards, Richard Baker, John Campbell and Duvon Perkins. Brad Ross will be running for Mayor of Pembroke, Brandon Borneman for Lafayette mayor and Daniel Lacy has filed to be Mayor of Crofton.
For the Hopkinsville Mayoral race, it remains a match up between Independent Despaepa Vansauwa, Democret Markeeta Oldham-Wilkerson and Republican Russ Guffey.
For Crofton City Council, the non-partisan filers are Wendall Alexander, Jeff Chandler, Wanda Croft, Reta Fleming, James Grace, Gregory P. Owen, Jonathan Staggs and Leslie Wilson.
Running for Lafayette City Commission are Timothy Hancock, Christian Pahl, Sandra Torres, Chase Wedinger and Norma Banks. Pembroke City Commission saw non-partisan filings from Walter Bell, Lesa Thaxton Farmer, Karen Pyle and David Rule.
Then, running to sit on Oak Grove City Council are Breana Cash, Yvonna Castleberry, Edward Cook, Theresa Jarvis, Jean Leavell, Melissa Lynch, Jane McKnight, Isaiah Spencer, James Stewart and Lloyd Andy Walters.
The top vote getters in those non-partisan races will be elected to serve in those positions.
While people wanting to file as write-in candidates still have until August 24 to file their paperwork, it’s looking like our ballots are set heading towards November.
