Woman flown to Evansville hospital following Dawson Springs Road crash

A single-vehicle crash on Dawson Springs Road in Christian County last week sent a Dawson Springs woman to the hospital by helicopter.

It happened June 3 around 4:50 p.m. in the 1700 block of Dawson Springs Road, according to the Christian County Sheriff’s Department, when a vehicle driven by 74-year-old Patricia Bruce of Dawson Springs was just passing Highway 800.

Her phone reportedly fell in the vehicle, and told officers she had reached down to get it, looking downwards at the same time, and in doing so, went off the roadway. The vehicle struck a mailbox and then an embankment, causing the vehicle to go airborne and roll over.

Bruce sustained an obvious injury to her leg and foot. She was taken by helicopter to a hospital in Evansville, Indiana for treatment.
