Woman killed in Clarksville apartment fire

A Clarksville woman was killed in a structure fire in Clarksville Wednesday night. 

According to Clarksville Fire Rescue, crews responded to the 100 block of Darlene Drive around 9:45 p.m. for an apartment fire and crews first arriving on scene found light smoke coming from the front door of the apartment.

A 50-year-old female victim, who has not been identified, was found inside the apartment and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A neighbor had smelled smoke and called 911, and knocked on the door trying to alert their neighbor. They made entry to the space and saw smoke and the smoldering fire. Firefighters arrived on the scene, performed a quick search at 9:47 p.m., and quickly brought the fire under control.

The investigation remains ongoing.
