It was bright and cheerful in the Silo Event Center Thursday morning, as the women inside the venue joined together in fellowship, empowerment and fun for the Christian County Chamber of Commerce Women’s Summit.
And they had quite the line-up in store for the day, with Coffee with the Book and Bottle Shop starting the festivities, followed by panels, speakers, informational sessions, breakout sessions and much more. Chandler Ladd with the Chamber says they have roughly 150 women register for the event, and they were thrilled to bring the Women’s Summit back this year, bringing professional women and young women an event celebrating them.
She says some of the events were focused on increasing women’s independence, their knowledge of resources in the community and of course, giving women just a bit of break when they might normally not get one.
Service One Credit Union was a sponsor of the event, and Vice President of Marketing and Community Development Jennifer Martin was in attendance. She says becoming a sponsor was a ‘no brainer’ for her, saying it aligns with their values of serving others.
Martin says events like the Women’s Summit are so important for a variety of reasons, saying women do so much for their communities, and this is a way for the community to help them find new ways to succeed.
The speakers were focused on generational differences in the workforce, and how things have changed over the years for women in all branches of the workforce, and what advice they could offer on how to face change and accept it.
