Work to resume on U.S. 41-A improvement project in Madisonville

Work will be resuming on an improvement project along U.S. 41-A in Madisonville this week, after experiencing lengthy delays.

According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, construction will resume on an approximately three-mile stretch of Nebo Road in Madisonville, bringing an end to a long delay in the project that was brought about by multiple rounds of severe weather and other hiccups.

The project is set to improve U.S. 41-A from Yorkwood Place to Industrial Drive, tying in with previous improvements and widening. The majority of the work will include entirely new construction, with motorists experiencing only minor traffic delays during the bulk of the work.

The new route will also mean a different traffic configuration for motorists who navigate U.S. 41-A. One of the biggest changes motorists will see is an entirely new and safer intersection with KY 1034/Rose Creek Road. That intersection will be extended out to meet the new path of U.S. 41-A, which will be constructed to the north of the current roadway–the site where earthwork has already started.

Work is scheduled to begin at the Industrial Drive end of the project as soon as today.
