To give teenagers in the community a space to have fun and also focus on their studies, the Hopkinsville-Christian County YMCA opened their Teen Center on Monday.
The center is for those who are 12-year-old through 17 years-old and is open from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. from Monday through Friday.
Sheryl Ellis the Executive Director of the YMCA says they previously had a center for teens but it closed when the space was repurposed for other programs and it has been a prayer of hers to be bring it back.
The center has a ping-pong table, video games, televisions, board games and a reading nook. Along with the activities Ellis says those who come to the center can get a hot meal and tutoring.
For teenagers, Ellis says YMCA membership costs $26 a month and those who may not be able to afford the membership can apply for a scholarship.
