A late rally fell short for University Heights who fell 6-5 to host South Warren Monday in a high school baseball game.
UHA scored three runs in the top of the seventh but Hayden Hunt grounded out sharply leaving the potential tying run at second base.
The Spartans jumped on UHA starting pitcher Josh Pace with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first for a 2-0 lead. They extended the advantage to 6-0 after three innings.
The Blazers began chipping away at the lead, scoring two runs in the top of the fifth to draw within 6-2.
Cadence Gibson went 4-for-5 and Courtland Gibson had three singles to lead the Blazers, who slipped to 26-5 on the season. Hunt had a double.
Jackson Flynn and AJ Hogart each added a pair of hits for the Blazers, who are scheduled to go to Franklin-Simpson on Thursday.
